The Oklahoma women’s golf team successfully closed out its third tournament win of the season Sunday, firing an overall score of 2-under at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona.

The Sooners placed five golfers in the top 20 that helped put them on top of a field of 16, which included five in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 35. Junior Chirapat Jao-Javanil finished second overall with a three-round score of 4-under par. She finished just two strokes behind the individual champion, senior Kristina Merkle from Tulsa, for her 17th career top-10 finish.

Other notable scores came from junior Emily Collins, who finished tied for third at 2-under par that broke her personal collegiate record for 54 holes. Senior Taylor Schmidt also broke her personal 54-hole record by finishing tied for fifth at 1-under par. Sophomore Jade Staggs finished tied for 12th, junior Anne-Catherine Tanguay was tied for 15th and junior Kaitlyn Rohrback completed her three rounds tied for 22nd.

The Sooners, as a team, finished the three-day tournament at Longbow Golf Club ahead of notable universities such as SMU, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Notre Dame. They comfortably won by 18 strokes over the field.

They’ll return to action this weekend at the SunTrust Gator Invitational on March 15-17 in Gainesville, Fla.
