The No. 1 OU softball team capped off the second game of its double-header today with a, 10-2, victory against Drake. After scoring 14 runs in the first game, Oklahoma knocked in 10 against the Bulldogs.

Key Stat: 10, 11 – Sophomore Lauren Chamberlain hit her 10th and 11th home runs of the year. The pair of bombs to deep center gives her the Big 12 season lead. Chamberlain is seventh all-time in OU career home runs with 41. Only a sophomore, she is on pace to catch the record – currently held by teammate, senior Jessica Shults.

Key Player: Lauren Chamberlain – She has carried the Oklahoma lineup all season, and did not stop this evening. Chamberlain blasted two balls against the Bulldogs that left the stadium, giving her five RBI in the game. Before the season coach Patty Gasso labeled Chamberlain, “The best hitter I’ve ever seen.”

What it means: The Sooners earned their 20th victory of the season. The dominance continued this evening, as OU is breezing through a tough nonconference schedule. The 10-2 victory marks the 13th time Oklahoma has won a game by five or more runs this season.

What’s next for the Sooners: OU is back in action at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marita Hynes Field. The Sooners will play another double-header versus Northern Colorado and Drake. OU defeated both teams today.
