Women's basketball: Sooners await West Virginia after first round bye

What: After a first round bye, No. 3 seed Oklahoma is up against No. 6 seed West Virginia in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals — the teams' third meeting this season. The Mountaineers won the last contest, 82-63, in Morgantown, and the Sooners won the first matchup, 71-68, in Norman.

When: 8:30 p.m. CST

Where: American Airlines Center in Dallas

How they got here: OU enters the game fresh off a 77-73 win at Texas Tech in its regular season finale. West Virginia fell at Texas, 58-45.

Players to watch: All-Big 12 First Team junior guards Aaryn Ellenberg and Christal Caldwell. OU's Ellenberg leads the Sooners in scoring and sits atop the Big 12 in 3-point shooting percentage and 3-pointers made. West Virginia's Caldwell leads the Mountaineers in scoring and steals.

Key stat: 2-5 — OU's record in its last seven games away from home.

What's at stake: A trip to the semifinals and another win to add to either team's tournament résumé.
