What: 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
When: All day, Friday and Saturday
Where: Fayetteville, Ark.
Players to watch: Tia Brooks, qualified first in Women Shot Put; Kevin Williams, qualified third in Men 5,000 Meter Run; Claire McConnell, qualified 10th in Women Indoor Pentathlon; Oklahoma men’s team, including Frezer Legesse, Jamel Wood, Malcolm Wankel, and Patrick Casey, qualified seventh in Distance Medley.
Key stat: Florida is the men’s defending winner of the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Oregon holds the title for the women.
What’s at stake: All athletes will be competing for a 2013 NCAA Championships title. Last year, Brooks became the 12th woman in NCAA history to win indoor and outdoor titles in the same season. This weekend will be her first attempt at a repeat. Friday will be Williams and Wankel’s NCAA debut.
