Men's basketball: Sooners blow 22-point lead, fall to Texas in OT

Senior guard Steven Pledger goes up for a fast break lay-up in the second half of the Sooners’ 90-76 win over the Baylor Bears on Saturday in Norman. Pledger finished with 19 points, one of three OU players over 17 points.

The OU men’s basketball team completely fell apart in the second half Wednesday night and lost to Texas in overtime, 92-86.

Key stat: 22. The margin of points that OU was outscored by in the final 7:30. Texas finished the game on a 32-10 run.

Key performer: Senior forward Romero Osby had a great game, finishing with 31 points and five rebounds. However, he missed the first of two free throws that would have put OU up by three points with 7 seconds left.

Key opponent: Sophomore guard Myck Kabongo shook off a first half in which he only scored three points, to have a fantastic game, putting up 31 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. He also hit a buzzer-beating prayer of a shot to send the game to overtime.

What it means: OU falls to 9-6 in the Big 12, putting its NCAA tournament hopes in some amount of doubt.

Next up for the Sooners: Oklahoma heads home to take on Iowa State at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
