The No. 1 Oklahoma softball team overcame tough competition over the weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic to remain perfect this season.

The Sooners (15-0) played five games in three days at the classic in Palm Springs, Calif., including three matchups versus ranked competition.

After weekend victories against No. 16 Georgia, No. 19 Arizona and No. 23 Florida State, OU is now 7-0 against ranked opponents — outscoring them by a total of 47-0. The Sooners also defeated Nebraska and UC Santa Barbara at the classic.

The dominant pitching duo of seniors Keilani Ricketts and Michelle Gascoigne continued to overwhelm hitters, allowing only two runs over five games.

Ricketts tossed three complete-game shutouts to improve her season record to 7-0.

With thirty total strikeouts in her last three starts, she is now 20th all-time in career strikeouts for Division I softball.

Fellow senior Jessica Shults also made history over the weekend when she blasted the 57th home run of her career, breaking the Oklahoma and Big 12 career record.

Other notable performers of the weekend include: sophomore Lauren Chamberlain, junior Brittany Williams and junior Destinee Martinez.

OU will be back in action as they play their home-opener versus Nebraska at 6 p.m. Friday.
