The No. 19 Oklahoma baseball team completed the sweep against Hofstra with a 7-4 victory Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park thanks to a walk-off, three-run homer by junior first baseman Matt Oberste.

Key Stat: Three — After Hofstra scored three runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game, the Sooners (4-0) plated three runs on one swing in the bottom of the ninth to claim the series sweep.

Key Player: Freshman pitcher Corey Copping — The righty struggled a bit in the second inning — he allowed his only run after walking and hitting a batter — before settling down and throwing zeros on the scoreboard until he was relieved following the seventh inning. In his collegiate debut, he lasted seven innings, allowed one run — earned — on two hits while striking out four members of the Pride.

What it means: Well the Sooners’ bid for perfection is still intact, but the main thing to take from this win and the series is this team may not be the most talented team in the world, but it can find multiple ways to win. Also, it shows this team is mentally tough enough to not let other teams back into games.

What’s next for the Sooners: OU returns to action with a midweek series against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The two-game set is slated for 3 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m. Wednesday.
