Men's basketball: Sooners lose to No. 17 Cowboys in overtime heartbreaker

The Oklahoma men’s basketball team fell to No. 17 Oklahoma State in overtime, 84-79.

Key stat: 33. The number of free throws that OSU shot, 12 more than OU.

Key performer: Senior forward Romero Osby came to life in the second half and had a monster game, finishing with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Key opponent: Freshman guard Marcus Smart was a thorn in the Sooner’s side all afternoon, putting up 28 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

What it means: The Sooners fall to 7-5 in Big 12 play. OSU pushes its Big 12 record to 9-3.

Next up for the Sooners: The Sooners continue their road trip as they take on Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 in Lubbock.
