Women's basketball: Sooners blow out Creighton in season opener
The OU women’s basketball team started its season with a 69-48 win over Creighton Saturday afternoon in Omaha, Neb.
How the Sooners won: OU played solid defense and shot well from 3-point range to take the 21-point win.
Key stat: 26.2 percent. The Sooners held the Blue Jays, a good shooting team, to just 26.2 percent from the field.
Key performer: Junior guard Aaryn Ellenberg. Ellenberg led the Sooners with a game-high 19 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3.
Key opponent: Senior guard Ally Jensen. Jensen scored 13 points, shooting 50 percent from the field and grabbing four rebounds.
What it means: The Sooners pass an early test with flying colors, beating a tough Creighton team on the road. OU will face their next test against UCLA on Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center.
