Men's tennis: Sooners claim doubles co-championship

Garrett Holt, The Oklahoma Daily 9:51 p.m. November 4, 2012

OU men’s tennis player sophomore Dane Webb lost in the singles final of the Longhorn Invitational in Austin on Sunday.

Current Division I Northeast Regional champion Princeton senior Matija Pecotic defeated Webb 7-6, 7-6 in the final match.

“[Webb is] playing some of the best tennis he has ever played,” assistant coach Bo Hodge said in a release. “We are expecting him to have a breakout year.”

OU also represented both teams in the doubles final. Webb and senior Costin Paval were set to play OU junior Peerakit Siributwong and freshman Leonard Stakhovsky before the team decided to not play the match to allow Paval to recover from a small injury.
