EDITORIAL: New Daily, new job for you?
Our View: Now is the time to join The Daily’s staff.
As finals rush by and the semester comes to a close, you’re probably thinking about how you’ll spend all that free time over winter break. But here at The Daily, we’re already deep in preparations for next semester’s newspaper.
We have to say: There’s a lot to be excited about.
This coming semester, even more so than most, a group of fresh faces will be taking over the newsroom, excited about trying new things and leading the paper in a new direction.
As proud as current and future staff members are of The Daily’s legacy, one of the best things about student media is student journalists have the freedom to innovate and change.
And you have a chance to be involved next semester and shape the course of that change.
If you want to help Sooners find the information they need, you can do that here.
If you want to tell stories that fascinate, inspire and challenge — through stories or photogrpahs — you can learn to do so.
If you’re tired of not seeing students like yourself in our pages, you can help change that.
If you’ve ever been annoyed by a mistake you’ve seen in The Daily, you can help make sure it doesn’t happen again.
If you’ve ever disagreed with opinions expressed in our pages, you can set the record straight.
If you’re passionate about sports, entertainment, art, activism, campus politics or students’ achievements, you can share that passion with your fellow students.
And, no matter what else motivates you, if you want an exciting work environment with visible results every day — if you want marketable clips and proven skills that will assure any future employer — you will get that here.
So if you’re interested in being a reporter, reviewer, page designer, photographer, columnist, Web editor, copy editor, videographer or illustrator, join us next semester and help guide the future of The Daily.
